از افق تا افق کار مشارکتی بین دبیرستان دوره اول فرزانگان  شهر خرم‏ آباد در غرب ایران و مدرسه پااُلو آرتُ شرقی در کالیفرنیای آمریکا برگزار شد.

از افق تا افق،  طی چندین مرحله همفکری و مشورت بین خانم‏ راحله زمردی نیا؛ هنرمند ایرانی بینارشته‏ ای و فعال در زمینه ویدئو، عکاسی، پرفورمنس و چیدمان، که ساکن آمریکا هستند؛ و من - تارا گودرزی؛ هنرمند بینارشته‏ ای فعال در زمینه ویدئوآرت، پرفورمنس ‏آرت و چیدمان، ساکن خرم‏ آباد- و دوماه بحث و گفت‏وگو با هنرآموزان نوجوان، تصمیم گرفته شد اجرای مشترکی داشته باشیم به منظوراز بین بردن فاصله‏ های عظیمی که گاه بین انسان‏ها به نظر می‏رسد.

این کار مشارکتی بین دبیرستان دوره اول فرزانگان  شهر خرم‏ آباد در غرب ایران و مدرسه پااُلو آرتُ شرقی در کالیفرنیای آمریکا برگزار شد و از سوی موسسه مطالعات ایران در دانشگاه استنفورد حمایت می‏ شد.  به این نتیجه رسیدیم که شروع ایده‏ پردازیمان را می توانیم در  فضا و روابط بین سیارات جستجو کنیم و چون در پی به نمایش گذاشتن تعاملات بودیم، قرار بر این شد که سیارات را همانند توپ‏ هایی بزرگ بسازیم. توپ‏ها از مواد بازیافتی ساخته شدند تا در کنار مفاهیم دیگری که دنبال می‏کردیم، توجه بیشتری به آنچه تولید و مصرف می‏ شود و آنچه دور ریخته می‏ شود و می‏ توانست بیشتر مفید باشد، داشته باشیم.

بعد از چندین جلسه گفتگو به این نتیجه رسیدیم که 9 توپ داشته باشیم؛ مثل منظومه شمسی که 9 سیاره دارد. توپ‏ها با لباس‏ های غیر قابل استفاده ساخته شدند. لباس‏ هایی که متعلق به خانواده هنرآموزان یا خود هنرآموزان بود و هرکدام از این لباس‏ ها خاطره‏ های بسیاری همراه داشتند.

قبل از اینکه با توپ‏ ها اجرا داشته باشیم، باید آن‏ها را پُر از افکار و احساس‏مان می‏ کردیم؛ به همین منظور، هرکدام از شرکت کنندگان، متن یا جمله‏ای را درمورد آنچه که در درون خود به عنوان "یک مخلوق بر سیاره زمین"، حس می‏ کرد را آماده کرد و آن‏ها را به روی توپ‏ها نوشتند و یا به روی کاغذ آوردند و درون لایه‏ های زیرین توپ، آن‏ها را پنهان کردند.

 

 

 نمونه ای از نوشته های 214 دانش آموز ایرانی، که به توپ‏ ها اضافه شده ‏اند:

_ من باید رویاهایم را حقیقی کنم.

_ من انقلاب می‏کنم؛ انقلابی مملو از پَر و از بال‏ های آرمان.

_ ما مسئولیم آسمان را اینگونه آبی نگه داریم.

_ من می‏ خواهم رنگ سبز برگان سرفراز میهنم را رو سفید کنم. آب زندگی را هر چند کم به نهال‏ ها ببخشم شاید دیرتر به بی‏رحمی تبرهای انسان‏ نما پی ببرند و بفهمند هنوز در دنیا قلب‏ های دریا مانند نمرده‏ اند. من مسئولم آبی آب را سیاه نکنم. من مسئولم مسئول باشم.

_ باید که دنیا را از خود نرنجانم با دنیا یکی شوم و سعی کنم مانند دنیا لباس یکرنگی به تن کنم.

 

 

لباس‏ ها و خاطراتشان به روی هم دوخته شد و نوشته‏ ها درون توپ‏ ها پنهان شدند و در آخرین سه شنبه سال در ایران، تعدادی از دانش‏ آموزان توپ‏ها را به حیاط مدرسه آوردند و به هر شکل که دوست داشتند با آن‏ها بازی کردند. بغییر از آن 9 سیاره، آن‏ها حتی سیاره ‏های خیالی‏شان را هم در کنار باقی سیارات قرار دادند. دانش‏آموزان مدرسه پااُلو آرتُ نیز توپ‏های خود را آماده کردند و روندی مشابه هنرآموزان ایرانی را طی کردند. دانش آموزان ایرانی و آمریکایی در طی ساخت سیاره‏ هایشان، از طریق اینترنت، درمورد مسائل اجتماعی که دغدغه‏ هایشان بود صحبت و گفتگو داشتند.

این پروژه بین سال های 1395 و 1396 برگزار شد.

 


"Horizon to Horizon", through several stages of consensus and consultation between Ms. Raheleh Zomorrdi Nia; a multi-disciplinary Iranian artist active in video art, photography, performance art and installation art, residing in the United States; And I - Tara Goudarzi; a multi-disciplinary artist active in the field of video art, performance art and arrangement, a resident of Khorramabad - and two months of discussion with adolescent students, it was decided to have a joint performance, ​in order to bridge on the huge gaps that seem sometimes occur between humans. 

The partnership was held between Farzanegan High School in Khorramabad in western Iran and the Palo Alte School in Eastern California, USA, and was supported by the Institute for Iranian Studies at Stanford University. We came to the conclusion that the beginning of our ideation could be traced back to space and interplanetary relations, and because we wanted to show interactions, we decided to make the planets look like big balls. The balls were made from recycled materials so that, among other concepts we followed, we would pay more attention to what is produced and consumed and what is discarded and could be more useful.

After several sessions of conversation, we decided to have 9 balls; Like the solar system that has 9 planets. The balls were made of unusable clothing. Clothes that belonged to the family of the students or the students themselves, and each of these clothes had many memories.

Before we could play with the balls, we had to fill them with our thoughts and feelings; To that end, each participant prepared a text or sentence about what he or she felt was a "creature on planet Earth" and wrote it on the balls. Or they wrot it on paper and hid it inside the bottom layers of the ball.

 

 

Examples of the writings of 214 Iranian students, which were added in the balls:

- I have to make my dreams come true.

 

- I am making a revolution; A revolution full of feathers and wings.

 

- We are responsible for keeping the sky blue.

 

I want to whiten the green leaves of my homeland. Give the water of life to the saplings, though little; Maybe later they will realize the cruelty of humanoid axes and realize that the hearts like the sea are not dead in the world yet. I am responsible for keeping the water blue. I am responsible to be responsible.

 

- I must not upset the world with myself; Be one with the world and try to wear the same clothes with one color as the world.

 

 

 

 

Their clothes and memories were stacked on top of each other and the inscriptions were hidden inside the balls. On the last Tuesday of the year in Iran, a number of students brought the balls to the school yard and in any way they liked with They played. Apart from those 9 planets, they even placed their imaginary planets next to the rest of the planets. The students of Palo Alte School also prepared their balls and followed a similar process to the Iranian students. During the make of their planets, Iranian and American students talked togather on the Internet about social issues that were of concern to them.

This project was held between 2017 and 2018.

“HORIZON TO HORIZON” ART PROJECT TRANSCENDS BORDERS

Horizon to Horizon is a collaborative art project that connects high school students from East Palo Alto, California and Khorramabad, Iran together in dialogue. Curated by artist and lecturer Ala Ebtekar, the project was led by this year’s Art, Social Space and Public Discourse Artist in Residence Minoosh Zomorodinia and her collaborating partner Tara Goodarzy. They worked in parallel over the last year, facilitating discourse between two groups of students and empowering them through technology to work as a team with peers from across the globe. 

Students responded through text and textiles to prompts from Minoosh and Tara that involved prescient matters affecting each of the two groups on a local as well as a global scale.  The students provided articles of clothing or textiles from home that had an intimate, familial story.  They then constructed physical spheres made with this material, considering the body and the movement of these shared, celestial orbs. 

Furthermore, they set up a framework for students to chat in real time and in recorded messages passed back and forth, all steered by their own questions intentionally kept separate from the instructors.  This studio, built from conversations, resulted in a series of performances that are still growing in tandem. Projects like these are perfect examples of citizen diplomacy that can lead to more understanding in these fraught times.
